As the photographer for my husband Michael Hermesh’s sculptures and paintings, my photographs of his work rarely go beyond publication on websites, promotional material, and occasional magazines. This is the first time that we have pulled together a comprehensive show that depicts the finer details of Mike’s work for an upcoming show. Mike’s show “There are No Secrets” will be opening at the Petley Jones Gallery in Vancouver on the 8th of November.
My show is a teaser of the work that will be unveiled this coming November. I have tried to capture the narrative that is so inherent in his work. The stories all speak loud and clear – even if it is only a small portion of the sculpture. As an example – there are four detail shots of Michael’s painting “The Gyre” and in each photograph there is a story to be found. The full painting is 38 x 48 inches. My preview photos grab only small segments of the work.
