As the photographer for my husband Michael Hermesh’s sculptures and paintings, my photographs of his work rarely go beyond publication on websites, promotional material, and occasional magazines. This is the first time we have pulled together a comprehensive show depicting the finer details of Mike’s work for an upcoming show. Mike’s show “There are No Secrets” will open at the Petley Jones Gallery in Vancouver on the 8th of November.
My show is a teaser of the work coming in November. I have tried to capture the narrative that is so inherent in his work. The stories speak loud and clear – even if it is only a tiny portion of the sculpture. For example, there are four detail shots of Michael’s painting “The Gyre,” and each photograph has a story. The entire painting is 38 x 48 inches. My preview photos grab only small segments of the work.
